Christmas 2009

We had a very enjoyable Christmas this year. Santa was very generous. My mom got to be with us for her 63rd birthday, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. We stayed in Jacksonville, FL this year and had very pleasant weather for the holidays. We also had the chance to go to the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando to see ICE!. Ice artists come in from China and carve and sculpt over a million pounds of ice and they keep it at 9 degrees! We were given knee-length blue parkas to wear through the ice-cold exhibit. It was absolutely astonishing to see the detailed carvings full of color and light. Enjoy the pictures!

Hi Everyone!
I am starting a blog so everyone can keep up with us because, being a Navy family, we move around a lot. Another reason is that Kayla, Kenneth, and Bruce are doing a lot and getting older so I wanted to keep everyone updated on them.

We are in Jacksonville, Florida now. Justin is stationed at NS Mayport. He is a Religious Programs Specialist which means he assists the Chaplains in his destroyer squadron. He is on a sea duty rotation and deploys January 2nd on the USS Farragut for about 5-7 months.

I am working on NAS Jacksonville for iAP-Hill Transportation. I dispatch and control all the contracted vehicles for the base. I am also putting in my package for a commission with the Navy and Coast Guard. It is a long process waiting for boards to begin and/or open. The quotas for a slot for Officer Candidate School are very low and with the economy, the way it is, they can be picky with an influx of applicants. Wish me luck!
Kayla is 12 years old and attending Kernan Middle School. She is in the 7th grade and on the A/B honor roll. Kenneth is 10 years old and attending Chet's Creek Elementary School. He is in the 5th grade and is also on the A/B honor roll. We are very proud of both of them!

Bruce just turned 3 years old November 7th! We had home-made cupcakes and Bruce got one with a big "3" candle on it! We had Grandma Lynne up for the celebration and had a great time. He got his very first bicycle and loves riding it! Bruce goes to pre-school and enjoys learning the alphabet, counting, drawing shapes, and singing songs.
